Well today has been a big day for Brody. He has come off all air! Because he has not had a spell in three days, they decided to see how he could tolerate breathing on his own. They will watch him extra carefully which reassures me. They have increased his feedings to 25 ml and if he does well with that, they will remove his IV. Once that is taken out, he may even be able to wear clothes - how cute. His jaundice levels have come way down, so he was able to come out from under the lights and take off his shades. I love watching him be able to open his eyes and look around. His nurse said again today, "Brody is here now to eat and grow." We are so glad things are going well and we are taking steps in the right direction.
The words and photos are precious. You will be so glad you did this. It will be so fun to go back and read Brody's story to him when he's older. Jackson still loves to hear his story. They thought he was an ectopic pregnancy so I grieved for almost a week until the big ultrasound at the hospital. I had settled with the fact that there wasn't a "viable" pregnancy, and then the ultrasound tech said, "Well, there's the heartbeat." That was the best news ever! I tell Jackson that he was hiding from us!
